NEWS ITEM: At a March 4 press conference in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, overthrown President Viktor Yanukovych denied that he fled Ukraine.
He said he traveled to the east of Ukraine after leaving Kyiv late on Feb. 21, but had to relocate to Russia for safety concerns. “I found temporary asylum at my friend’s home near Rostov,” the former president said.
