President of France Francois Hollande scheduled separate dinners with U.S. and Russian leaders in Paris on June 5, following the G7 summit held without Russia’s representative for the first time since 1997.
G7 leaders decided to exclude Russia from their company because of
President Vladimir Putin’s military invasion of Ukraine, including
Russia’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula. All the world
leaders will take part on June 6 in the 70th anniversary of D-Day, the
Allied landing in Normandy, France, less than one year before the defeat
of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germany.
