On July 7 in Sloviansk, the Donetsk Oblast city newly liberated from Kremlin-backed fighters, Ukrainians detained several of separatists who tried to get food from humanitarian supplies meant for local residents in the city of 120,000 people, effectively held hostage by the Russian-backed gunmen for nearly three months.
Local people were standing in line to get sausages and other food
sent by the Ukrainian government when some of them spotted the
Kremlin-backed insurgents and turned them over to the Ukrainian army.
