On Aug. 26, the Security Service of Ukraine published several videos of interrogations of Russian paratroopers who were captured in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk Oblast.
The next day, Russian RIA Novosti news agency quoted a source in
Russia’s Defense Ministry as saying that the paratroopers were
patrolling the border and “may have accidentaly crossed it.” Later,
Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the same version.
