A recent restriction introduced by the State Aviation Service, and then suspended, would have severely complicated the lives of the foreign-owned airline companies in Ukraine, at the same time strengthening the positions of Ukraine International Airlines, the biggest Ukrainian company that is believed to be owned by billionaire and Dnipropetrovsk Governor Ihor Kolomoyskiy through a chain of companies.
The official that brought up the restriction is a former employee of
Kolomoyskiy’s airline. The restriction, suspended by the Justice
Ministry on Nov. 26, can deprive Ukrainians of the access to low-cost
airlines.
