As the new government was formed on Dec. 2, the Ministry of Information has been launched.
Yury Stets, the minister, said his job is to fight propaganda in a time
of war. The initiative, however, drew criticism from free-speech
advocates who compared it to the Ministry of Truth, the propaganda
ministry from George Orwell’s 1984. Others compared it to the methods
used by Russia, known for its aggressive state propaganda.
