On March 24, President Petro Poroshenko accepted Igor Kolomoisky’s resignation as governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

The move was interpreted as Poroshenko’s victory over Kolomoisky, the
oligarch and the enfant terrible of Ukrainian politics, and as a step
towards curbing oligarch influence on politics. Critics note, however,
that Poroshenko himself is an oligarch, who has failed to keep his
pre-election promise to sell his business.
