Folk festival “Trypilske Kolo” has been a perfect venue to travel in time and learn more about the ancient Slavic civilization of Trypillya. Busy city dwellers donned traditional embroidered shirts on the occasion and hit the festival grounds for barefoot dancing and ethnic folk and rock gigs on July 1-4. Pottery-making, cooking and archery classes entertained the revelers in the open fields outside Kyiv. Surprisingly for Ukraine, smoking and drinking was banned during the festival.
