Hungarian farms have felt the pinch of the Russian embargo, with the country losing some EUR 80 million in exports. 

The announcement of cooperation between Hungary and Germany seems to be an indication that Budapest is attempting to bring its policy toward Russia more in line with Berlin and the European Union. The right-wing government of Viktor Orban has been perceived as friendly toward the government of Vladimir Putin and had earlier criticised European sanctions against Moscow.
