Socialist Party leader Oleksandr Moroz gave evidence on the criminal proceedings into the murder of journalist Georgy Gongadze at the investigation department of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Moroz is a key figure in the case because he was the first person to expose tapes that allegedly had the then President Leonid Kuchma's voice asking to "deal with" Gongadze.

Moroz said invetigation is going in circles because he was asked the same questions as during previous interrogations.

"There were no new questions. Those were the old ones we talked about eight years ago and in 2005 with another investigation prosecutor," he said.

On top he added he had left for the investigator his booklet about the disappearance of Gongadze.

As Ukrainian News reported, on March 15, the Kyiv Court of Appeals sentenced defendants in the Gongadze murder case, Mykola Protasov to 13 years in prison, Oleksandr Popovych to 12, and Valeriy Kostenko to 12 years in prison.

Gongadze disappeared on September 16, 2000. Two months later, a headless body, believed to be the journalist's, was found in a forest outside Kyiv.
