The Ukrainian Security Service has said that its decision not to allow a Russian citizen, a leader of the Don Cossacks, to enter Ukraine was legitimate. The SBU's press service said the decision was made to prevent the creation of an illegal parliamentary formation on Ukrainian territory. The incident took place on Oct. 4 when an ataman of the Don Cossacks, Viktor Demyanenko, was refused entry into Ukraine.

Pavel Korduban writes: Nortima, a company linked to the Ukrainian tycoon Ihor Kolomoysky, on Sept. 29 won the privatization tender for Odessa Portside Plant, one of Ukraine’s largest chemical factories. Nortima bid over $625 million, more than its rivals: the Russian Sibur and Russian-Ukrainian businessman Konstantin Grigorishin. This was more than the offer price of $500 million. However, the tender commission invalidated the result, arguing that the price was too low.

Today, the state needs the church much more than vice-versa.
