Travellers can protect themselves and others by following simple recommendations aimed at preventing the spread of infection such as attention to respiratory hygiene. Individuals who are ill should delay travel plans and returning travellers who fall ill should seek appropriate medical care. Ukrainian hospitals will start distributing Tamiflu among the population this week in an effort to help people who have the flu, RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service reports. The medicine -- which is known to be effective against swine flu -- was flown to Ukraine from Switzerland on November 1. Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko announced on November 2 that the Tamiflu would be distributed for free. Read the story here.

ITAR-TASS: Ukraine’s swine flu deaths jump to 22 Ukraine’s Health Ministry has reported that 67 people died of virus infections in the country, including 22 people of the H1N1 flu. In general, 255,000 Ukrainians caught flu and respiratory infections. Around 15,000 remain in in-patient clinics and 170 patients – in intensive care units. Read the story here.
