Taxi ripoffs at the airport Dear Editor:

I am very negatively surprised at how the official airport taxi at Kyiv Boryspil International Airport operates. This is the official taxi organized at the airport by an official taxi manager!!! They are not the so-call freelancers who offer rides to non-Ukrainian-speaking tourists.

True judges follow democratic, not Stalinist, principles Dear Editor,

I have been following the cases of ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and ex-Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko. I note a recent revelation that the Tymoshenko judge,Rodion Kireyev, was VERY unqualified.

Ukraine-EU relations will remain frozen until Yanukovych returns to democratic path Dear Editor,

Kostiantyn Yelisieiev, Ukraine’s ambassador to the European Union, wrote (‘There is no reason for alarm in Ukraine-European Union relations,’ in the March 9 edition of the Kyiv Post) that “the establishment of the Constitutional Assembly, which with the participation of leading Ukrainian and international legal experts, NGOs and different political forces is engaged in proposing new and balanced constitutional amendments.”

Kyiv museums outdated Dear Editor, In recent weeks I have made visits to two museums near the Lavra, both with potentially powerful messages for the foreign visitor. The first was the museum under theHolodomor Memorial. Both the stark sculptures outside and the display of blackened farming artifacts within tell their tragic story, but most of the wall displays and photographs would be wasted on any visitor ignorant of Ukrainian.

Thefts from luggage at Boryspil Airport a real problem Dear Editor,

Olga Rudenko's Feb. 24 article "Can Boryspil cut luggage thefts?" touched me deeply. In May 2007, I took a flight by Aerosvit company from Kyiv to Hamburg [Germany]. I don’t know why I ended up putting sapphire earrings and pink ruby ring in my luggage, in the upper part of the bag.
