Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has ordered the Infrastructure Ministry and the State Property Fund to ensure that communications tariffs for the public are not increased due to the sale of national telecoms operator Ukrtelecom.

"I order the Infrastructure Ministry and the State Property Fund to ensure during the implementation of an agreement on the sale of Ukrtelecom that prices for telecommunications services for the public remain fixed for a certain period of time," he said in Kyiv on Thursday, while opening a government meeting.

Azarov said that in future any changes in the company’s tariffs had to be agreed with the state.
