You're reading: Dutch Rabobank mulling opening Ukrainian branch

Dutch-based Rabobank is mulling the possibility of opening a branch in Ukraine, according to Lviv City Council's press service.

"The goal of a visit by delegates of this bank is to consider the economic market of Ukraine and Lviv for further cooperation in the sector of food technologies and opening a branch of the bank in Ukraine," reads a press release issued by the press service on Monday.

On March 21, 2011, the bank’s delegates discussed these issues with representatives of Lviv City Council.

"Now I cannot tell what decision will be taken by the bank’s management, but Ukraine has good prospects," the press release quotes one of the directors of Rabobank’s divisions.

As part of their visit, Rabobank’s delegates are to attend the largest food processing companies in the city of Lviv and Lviv region, as the bank is the leader in financing of the food industry and agriculture.

According to the press release, Rabobank closed a branch in Russia and the bank is looking for other countries for cooperation.

"In addition to Ukraine, Rabobank’s delegation is to visit Poland," reads the press release.

Rabobank started operations in 1898. Its international chain numbers over 240 branches. Rabobank’s capital in 2010 stood at EUR 41 billion, and its net profit was EUR 2.8 billion.
