You're reading: Dnipropetrovsk entrepreneurs to send ‘diet social package’ to Azarov

During a rally on March 23, Dnipropetrovsk entrepreneurs have collected "a diet social package" for Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.

The package includes a kilogram of pearl barley, wheat grits, millet, peas, and Chinese buckwheat, one kilogram of "frostbitten potatoes," a head of cabbage, two carrots, Prima cigarettes [cheap cigarettes produced in Ukraine] and a package of Mezym pills [medicine to aid digestion].

The entrepreneurs are planning to hand over this package to the premier and propose that he live on it’s contents for a month.

Over 200 people participated in the rally. Among them were businessmen and representatives of the Batkivschyna and the Front for Change parties.

The participants of the rally held placards reading "Stop Robbing the People!," "Wellbeing to the Authorities, a Snook to the People," and "Away With Tigipko and His Reforms!"

The participants said they sharply opposed tax pressure, in particular, the general increase of the housing and utilities tariffs, and prices for fuel and essential commodities. They also protested against the cancellation of a moratorium on land sales and the upcoming adoption of the "enslaving" Housing and Labor codes. The participants of the rally also said they opposed the adoption of the pension reform by the Verkhovna Rada.
