The Ukrainian government has approved a mechanism for the approval of construction projects and their examination.

According to cabinet resolution No. 560 of May 11, 2011, the government has to approve construction projects that use funds of the national budget, Crimean budget, city and town budges, or funds of state-run companies and organizations if the facilities have an estimated value of over Hr 100 million; if they are facilities where work at a depth of over 800 meters is carried out, irrespective of their estimated value; or if the construction of the facilities is being funded through the attraction of state-secured foreign loans.

Construction projects with total estimated values from Hr 30-100 million can be approved by the central executive power bodies, the Council of Ministers of Crimea, regional, Kyiv and Sevastopol city administration and other power bodies.

Projects worth up to Hr 30 million can be approved by state-run companies and organizations.

The term of examination cannot exceed 30 calendar days, depending on the technical and technological complexity of the facilities under construction, 90 calendar days for facilities that can pose radiation and nuclear hazards to people and the environment, and facilities that have an impact on the environment, and 15 calendar days for I-III difficulty category facilities being built on territories with complicated geological and human-caused conditions.
