Ukraine still wants further cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as the development of the global economy is still turbulent, Ukrainian Finance Minister Fedir Yaroshenko said, speaking at the parliament on Friday.

"Now we cannot work without the IMF, so to have a stable reserve of currency and cheap money to react to existing challenges in the global system and not to finance certain expenses," he said.

He said that there are various points of view concerning the issue.

The minister also said that Ukrainian authorities are continuing to work on the realization of the Stand By Arrangement with the IMF.

"We’re having consultations so to submit Stand By Arrangement documents foreseeing all of the tranches to be granted to Ukraine to support the balance of payments, [and] to obtain them on time," he said.

As reported, a letter by the National Bank of Ukraine’s governor to the Ukrainian finance minister was published in the mass media on Thursday, in which the governor expressed alarm at the state of Ukraine’s cooperation with the IMF.
