Most of Ukraine's territory will be covered by a chain of vegetable wholesale markets and storage facilities in 2011 and 2012, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.
"In 2011-2012, most of the country will be covered with a network of markets and vegetable storage facilities," he told reporters while visiting Stolychny wholesale farm market in Kyiv on Monday.
He said Ukraine is at the initial stage of creating a civilized farm market. The Stolychny market is a good example of this, he said.
"You are all welcome to the Stolychny market. Cabbage here costs 80 kopecks, new potatoes are sold for three hryvnias, while cucumbers [are sold] for one hryvnia," he said.
The premier also suggested that Internet-based trading could be put in place at the new market.
"I think e-commerce could be launched here, " he added.
