You're reading: Tax police by mistake temporarily blocks work of Incom company

Around 30 armed and masked representatives of the tax police on Tuesday blocked work of Incom IT company, one of the largest companies on the market, for over one hour, and later it was turned out that a mistake was in the address, the company has reported.

According to a company press release, armed people forced into the business center of Incom Company in Kyiv at 31-33, Smolenska Street at around 1100 and blocked all of the entrances of the building. They demanded to free working places and forced employees to corridors without explanation of the reasons.

"Over an hour the company’s employees did not manage to obtain any information both from tax officers and the company’s top managers, who were barred on the seventh floor of the business center," reads the release.

Incom says that the legal department of the company tried to understand the reasons of the tax police’s actions and demanded to present an official order for search, and only after 1.5 hours of talks it was turned out that the state body had got the wrong address, while Incom became a victim of the mistake.

The company said that tax officers did not carry out the search and no documents were withdrawn. They behaved in a correct way and then left the building.

"We’re surprised not with the search – we work in Ukraine. We’re surprised with another thing: taking the first coming documents and 30 submachine gunners, tax police can block work of any business without any explanations and without presenting the documents and even demanding to prove your innocence," reads the report, citing Incom President Oleksandr Fedchenko.
