DAVOS - Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said that Ukraine's biggest current problem is the contract for natural gas supply signed with Moscow in 2009.

"It is the 2009 gas contract that is the biggest problem in our country today," the president said in Davos on Friday during the 8th Ukrainian lunch organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.

At the same time, Yanukovych said Kyiv was working on the issue of the diversification of energy supplies and the replacement of natural gas by other energy sources.

"Such a program has already been considered, approved, and it is being implemented – it is working," he said.

The president said that the conditions of the 2009 gas contract make it very difficult to carry out social programs in the country.
