Ukraine's Agrarian Police and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk has said the situation regarding Ukrainian cheese supplies restricted by Russia is difficult and Kyiv is going to appeal to the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

"The cheese situation is difficult, I am bewildered. We are getting together with dairy companies to make some decision," the minister told journalists in Kyiv on Wednesday.

"We shall appeal to the WTO. The only trouble, Russia is still not a full WTO member. It will become a full member from July, and it is clear it will have obligations too," Prysiazhniuk added.

On Feb. 27, the Russian consumer rights watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, extended the blacklist of Ukrainian cheese suppliers to seven companies. Apart from Prometei, Pyriatyn and Hadiachsyr, the list also included Bashtanska cheese factory, Lozova cheese factory, Bel Shostka Ukraine and the Khmelnytsky Butter and Cheese Base.
