Vice Premier, Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Borys Kolesnikov says he opposes the privatization of ports.

"We must understand that the quay walls of the ports’ water areas, and this is not negotiable, cannot be privatized and will always be in state ownership," he said at a briefing in Odesa on April 10.

Kolesnikov also noted the need to adopt a law on seaports to guarantee investors’ right of ownership of the terminals they constructed at seaports.

"Today more than 70% of the goods at Odesa port alone are processed by private terminals, rather than state ones. There won’t be any privatization, because there’s nothing to privatize. This provides investors with the possibility of coming to all Ukrainian ports and receiving land plots, there to develop cargo terminals in our country," he said.
