You're reading: Boiko: Russia never offered Ukraine a 10% discount on gas

Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Boiko has said that a draft agreement on supplies of natural gas to Ukraine, which was submitted by the Russian side to Ukraine, never contained a provision on a 10% discount on gas.

"We received the agreement, but there was nothing about a 10% discount in it. That was an original version of the draft agreement, which was drawn up half a year ago," the minister told reporters on Wednesday in Kyiv, when asked about the gas contract between Ukraine and Russia that was passed to the Ukrainian side during a visit by Russian State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin.

As reported, Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov earlier stated that the draft document envisaged a 10% discount on gas for Ukraine and that it had been sent to relevant ministries and agencies for examination.
