The State Railway Administration of Ukraine (Ukrzaliznytsia) is preparing explanations regarding its new online ticket sale system for foreigners, booking.uz.gov.ua.

Ukrzaliznytsia told Interfax-Ukraine that the administration obtained letters from foreign citizens where they said that they have problems with the purchase of tickets using foreign bank cards.

Ukrzaliznytsia said that foreigners could pay for services, although if there are questions regarding payments by cards issued by foreign banks that do not use the 3-D Secure protocol, one should address the support center of the bank. The 3-D Secure protocol is used to improve the security of online payments.

Foreign clients should apply to their banks for advice about how to settle the problem."Now a detailed explanation for foreigners is being prepared, and it will be ready today," the administration said.Ukrzaliznytsia also said that in the future the system would be actively upgraded and improved.

The administration said that clients should call its service support center regarding the above-mentioned issues, using this number: +380 (44) 229 13 40.
As reported, Ukrzaliznytsia introduced a new automated online ticket sales system on May 21, 2012.

Passengers can use the new system via the electronic servicing channels on the Ukrzaliznytsia’s Web site, in the section "To Passengers" or by clicking the following link: http://booking.uz.gov.ua/. One can select a route only, learn about the availability of seats and pay for the ticket. The system foresees the possibility of payment using Visa and Mastercard cashless payment instruments available to individuals in Ukraine. In the future, other cashless payment instruments could be used.

New software for selling electronic tickets is used by the new system.The automated online ticket sales system was introduced to expand the sphere of passenger transportation services during Euro 2012.
