You're reading: Hotel prices during Euro 2012 reasonably increased in Poland

Warsaw – Director of UEFA Euro 2012 in Poland Adam Olkowicz has said that prices of accommodation in hotels in Poland during the Euro 2012 European Football championship has increased appropriately.

"Prices always grow when big sports and cultural events take place. And our prices did not jump as sharply as in Ukraine. That’s why UEFA President Michel Platini and Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych addressed the owners of Ukrainian hotels. Probably this is the reason why fewer tourists are going to visit Ukraine. Maybe this refers to Poland – our prices also increased. But I should say that they increased reasonably, appropriately," he said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine in Warsaw.

According to Olkowicz, Poland did not face problems with hotels. In addition, around 200 new hotels were constructed in the last five years.

"This is a private business – the government does not build hotels. We have enough rooms. The prices are affordable for fans," he added.
