Warsaw – UEFA President Michel Platini has said that the situation with the prices for accommodation during the Euro 2012 European Football Championship in Ukraine and Poland is the responsibility of the host countries.

"It’s not my fault that the prices for hotels are very high. This is the responsibility of Ukraine and Poland. They have an interest in getting as many fans to the games as possible," he said at a press conference in Warsaw on Wednesday.

Platini said that he raised this issue during his recent visits to Ukraine and met with representatives of the hospitality industry.

In early May, Euro 2012 Tournament Director in Ukraine Markiyan Lubkivsky said that the situation with hotel prices in Ukraine had normalized. He noted that statements by the Ukrainian government and UEFA had had a certain effect on hotel owners.
