You're reading: Bogdan Corporation continuing to cut car output

Bogdan Corporation, one of the largest operators on the automotive market of Ukraine, in May 2012 reduced car production by almost 2.1 times compared to May 2011 and almost halved it compared to April 2012, to 815 units.

"The sad trend of the decrease in car production is continuing," reads a press release.

As reported, in April the corporation reduced car production by 36.2% compared to the previous month, and by 22.7% compared to April 2011, to 1,568 units.

In January-May, the decline in car output was 6.4% compared to the same period last year, to 6,898 vehicles.

"This result, first of all, shows that a critical situation is continuing in the automotive industry on the background of a lack of state support for automakers," reads the document.

Starting from 2010, the pace of growth in car imports outstriped the growth in car production by 1.5 times, while in 2008-2010 the share of car imports increased from 52% to 68%, and in 2011 it amounted to 72%.

As of today, compared to 2008, the number of employees at all car plants has more than halved.

Bogdan Corporation was established in February 2005 with the aim of implementing large-scale automotive projects.
