The Kassos Warrior (above) cargo tanker docked on Oct. 31 along Ukraine’s Black Sea coast at Yuzhny Port, one of the country's biggest ports. It is the biggest tanker ever to dock at a Ukrainian port, according to TransInvestService Ltd., a private company also known as TIS. The group claims to have invested some $350 million since 1991 into modernizing and boosting the cargo and processing capacity of Yuzhny Port. TIS, which leases port space and facilities, said the tanker is nearly 300 meters long and 47 meters wide tanker with a deadweight capacity of 195, 000 tons. TIS said the tanker was capable of docking at the port thanks to investments made by the group. Such investments into Ukraine's ports could help boost exports, imports, and Ukraine's ecomomy overall, according to TIS. The tanker is currently being stocked with 140, 000 tons of ore.
