New generation satellite technologies to be implemented in Ukraine

The National Space Agency of Ukraine (NSA) and Europe's Blom have confirmed their readiness to develop cooperation in the sphere of implementing a new generation of satellite technologies in Ukraine, the NSA has told Interfax-Ukraine.

At a meeting in Kyiv of the NSA heads with Blom ASA Chief Operating Officer Hakon Jacobsen (Norway) and BlomInfo Managing Director Kristian Skak-Nielsen, the partners discussed promising areas of cooperation under joint innovative projects, including providing Ukrainian cities that are to host the final matches of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship with geographic information and navigation assistance, and creating a joint interactive processing center for the accumulation and use of geospatial data on the territory of Ukraine.

The sides agreed to develop a plan of cooperation for 2009-2010 and prepare pilot projects on the production and use of a new generation satellite navigators and the accumulation and use of geospatial data in Ukraine.
