The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has decided to reorganize its crisis management directorate as a department of crisis management and operational control on the open market, and the department for bank reorganization and ceasing their activity as a bank liquidation directorate, Serhiy Kruhlyk, the director of the foreign economic relations department of the National Bank of Ukraine, has reported.

"The crisis management directorate has been reorganized to provide this subdivision with more freedom of action," he said.

According to the NBU, on Jan. 13 Yuriy Petrov was transferred from the post of a crisis management directorate head to the post of director of the department of crisis management and operational control on the open market. On January 21 Kostiantyn Rayevsky, in turn, was transferred from the post of director of the department for bank reorganization and ceasing their activity to the post of a bank liquidation directorate head.

The NBU said that as of Jan. 22, 2010,fifteen Ukrainian banks were undergoing liquidation. Temporary administration has been introduced at 12 troubled financial establishments.
