You're reading: Central Bank liquidating BIG Energy Bank

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has decided to liquidate Kyiv-based BIG Energy Bank, the NBU said in a posting on its Web site.

"The banking license of OJSC Bank BIG Energy has been withdrawn and the procedure of its liquidation has been initiated," reads the posting.

As the NBU said, the decision on the withdrawal of the license is stipulated in NBU resolution No. 97 dated February 24, 2010.

Independent expert Yuriy Vasylchenko was appointed provisional administrator at BIG Energy Bank. His authorities as the provisional administrator are expiring on March 1, 2010. The provisional administration at the bank was appointed in March 2009.

OJSC BIG Energy Bank was founded in 1993. The bank by January 1, 2010, ranked 88th among the 179 operating banks in Ukraine in terms of overall assets, estimated at UAH 931 million, according to the National Bank of Ukraine.
