Ukrainian inflation accelerates to 1.9% in February

Ukrainian inflation accelerated to 1.9% in February from 1.8% in January, the State Statistics Committee said.

Inflation for the two months was 3.7%.

Food and nonalcoholic beverages rose 3.5% in price in February, alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose 1.9%, utility charges grew 0.2%, healthcare - 0.9% and transport fares - 1.7%.

The government is forecasting that inflation will slow to less than 10% in 2010, from 12.3% in 2009.
