The hryvnia on Ukraine's interbank forex market slightly slid to UAH 7.9800 per U.S. dollar on Wednesday from UAH 7.9775 per U.S. dollar as of the end of trading on Tuesday.

Quotations were between UAH 7.9770-7.9830 per U.S. dollar at the end of Wednesday's trading, market operators told Interfax-Ukraine.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) again purchased currency at a rate of UAH 7.9800 per U.S. dollar on Wednesday.

The hryvnia on Ukraine's interbank market has weakened by 0.06%, from UAH 7.975 per U.S. dollar, since the beginning of the year.

As Erste Bank's press service told Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday, its analysts predict a slight weakening of the national currency in 2010 against the backdrop of an expected issue of hryvnias to refinance banks and bridge the national budget gap.
