The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the National Bank of Ukraine will carry out a united, coordinated policy, but the issue of the future leadership of the NBU has not been considered yet, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov has said.

"There are several candidacies [for the post of NBU head], but I will not name them," he told reporters in Kyiv on Thursday after a plenary meeting of the parliament. At the same time according to him, the issue of the future NBU leadership has not been considered yet.

Azarov said possible candidacies for the post of NBU head were discussed with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych several times.

"We discussed possible options," the premier said.

At the same time he said that the main task is not to replace NBU head immediately, but "together with the leadership of the NBU, to elaborate an optimal monetary and credit policy in 2010."
