You're reading: Ukraine harvests 1.77 million tonnes of grain

Ukraine as of July 5 had harvested 1.77 million tonnes of grain, threshing early grain and leguminous crops on an area of about 72,000 hectares, according to the Agriculture Ministry of Ukraine.

According to a report, the average yield of early grain crops in the country in 2010 is 24.6 quintals per hectare against 25.4 quintals per hectare as of the same date last year.

Ukraine harvested almost 1.5 million tonnes of barley from an area of 600,000 hectares at an average yield of 24.4 quintals per hectare, 240,000 tonnes of wheat from an area of 87,000 hectares at an average yield of 27.5 quintals per hectare

According to the ministry, farms by July 5 had collected 271,000 tonnes of rape from an area of 194,000 hectares at an average yield of 14 quintals per hectare.

As reported, the ministry forecasted the 2010 grain harvest at a level of 45-45.5 million tonnes against 46 million tonnes in 2009.
