The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a list of specialized airport services.

Transport and Communications Minister Kostiantyn Yefymenko announced this to Ukrainian News.

According to him, the relevant decision was made at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday.

Yefymenko said that the list included services involving takeoff and landing of airplanes, refueling of airplanes, as well as taxiing and parking of airplanes.

Yefymenko stressed that the ministry was primarily interested in including in this list services involving refueling of airplanes, which now falls under the control of the Antimonopoly Committee.

"It is clear that this market is monopolized because we have only one factory that can produce fuel of sufficient level and quality. The addition of this section to specialized services at airports allows the Antimonopoly Committee to use all the resources that the active legislation places at its disposal to conduct a qualified investigation of this issue," Yefymenko said.

In accordance with Article 5 of the law "On Natural Monopolies," the Cabinet of Ministers designates services as at transport terminals, ports, airports as specialized services if they are provided by monopolies.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the leadership of the Boryspil international airport (Kyiv region) announced in April that it did not intend to pay the fine of UAH 10 million that the Antimonopoly Committee imposed on the airport for abusing its monopoly during provision of the specialized airport service of aircraft refueling.
