Ukrainian tourists who bought tour packages from the Karya Tour travel agency were evicted from hotels in Antalya (Turkey), as the tour operator failed to pay for hotel rooms. Kyiv Economic Court on July 5, 2010 declared the Kyiv-based Karya-Tour travel agency bankrupt and started liquidation procedures, reads a report published in the Holos Ukrainy newspaper.

Valentyn Mora was appointed the company's liquidator. The applications from creditors will be accepted at the liquidator's address for one month from the day of publication: 15 Orlovska Street, flat 110.

Interfax-Ukraine did not manage to receive comments from the company.

As reported, referring to reports from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, on July 8, Ukrainian tourists who bought tour packages from the Karya Tour travel agency were evicted from hotels in Antalya (Turkey), as the tour operator failed to pay for hotel rooms.

According to Interfax-Ukraine, both Karya Tour Ltd. and Karya Tour Ukraine Ltd., which are registered at the same address in Kyiv, have the same director. Interfax-Ukraine does not have additional information on the links between these two companies.

Seven hundred and thirty eight Ukrainian tourists who bought holidays in Turkey via tour packages from the Karya Tour travel agency remained in Turkey as of July 13.

The culture and information attaché of the Turkish Embassy in Ukraine, Berat Yildiz, said on July 13 that 3,900 tourists who bought tour packages at Karya Tour were on holiday in Turkey when the tour operator announced it had ceased its activities. They include 1,724 Ukrainians, as well as citizens of Slovakia, Poland and Hungary.

The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, along with tour operators, in particular, Tez Tour, had taken measures to ensure that tourists can continue their holidays and will be able to return to Ukraine as planned.

Flights for the stranded Ukrainian tourists are scheduled until July 22. In particular, around 110 tourists should arrive in Ukraine on July 13, 350 on July 14 and almost all of the remaining Ukrainians will return home by July 22.
