You're reading: TUI Travel signs contracts on renting 84.4% of hotel rooms for UEFA during Euro 2012

TUI Travel PLC (Britain), the official operator on hosting fans and participants in the Euro 2012 European Football Championship for UEFA, has signed agreements on renting 13,128 rooms in hotels in Kyiv, Donetsk, Lviv, and Kharkiv, which is 84.4% of the number required by the UEFA (15,555 rooms), Natalia Marchenko, the chief specialist of the national agency of Ukraine on preparing and hosting the finals of Euro 2012, has said.

"According to UEFA’s requirements, there should be 15,555 rooms available in three-, four and five-star hotels in the cities hosting Euro 2012. The majority of rooms are to be located in four- and five-star hotels. Currently the UEFA’s requirements have been 84.4% fulfilled," she said.

According to Marchenko, agreements for renting 6,069 rooms in three-, four- and five-star hotels were signed in Kyiv and Kyiv region (83% of the 7,300 required rooms), 1,868 rooms in Donetsk and Donetsk region (63.4% of 2,945 rooms), 2,542 rooms in Lviv and Lviv region (99.9% of 2,545 rooms), and 2,646 rooms in Kharkiv and Kharkiv region (95.7% of 2,765 rooms).

Marchenko said that the deficit of rooms is to be covered by hotels that have yet to be constructed.
