You're reading: Ukrainian banks’ net losses shrink by 42%

Ukrainian banks' net losses in the January-June period totalled to Hr 8.306 billion, which is 42% less than in the same period of 2009 (Hr 14.321 billion), the National Bank of Ukraine reported.

The banks’ net losses in June 2010 fell to Hr 832.9 million from Hr 2.326 billion in May 2010.

The June 2010 losses decreased by 64.3% year-over-year from Hr 2.33 billion.

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, the banks’ revenues in the first half of 2010 dropped by 9.5% year-over-year to Hr 65.176 billion, whereas revenues fell by 14.9% to Hr 73.483 billion.

"In 2010, interest-based spending has again taken the lead in the structure of expenses (43.2%)," reads the posting. "The share of allocations to rainy-day fund, which accounted for a major part of expenses due to the crisis, was 31.8% as of July 1, 2010."
