The Ukrainian government in January-June 2010 borrowed UAH 46.08 billion to finance the deficit of the national budget, which is 2.1 times up year-over-year (UAH 21.884 billion), according to a posting on the Web site of the Ukrainian Finance Ministry.

According to the report, total borrowing on the domestic market in H1, 2010 came to UAH 29.903 billion, a rise of 3.2 times year-over-year, from UAH 9.4 billion. Foreign loans stood at UAH 16.177 billion, which is 30% up year-over-year (UAH 12.485 billion).

Expenses to pay back loans in January-June 2010 reached UAH 12.75 billion, a rise of 3.1 times year-over-year (UAH 4.063 billion), including UAH 10.54 billion to pay domestic debts and UAH 2.21 billion to pay foreign debts, which are rises of 5.4 time and 5% respectively.

The report reads that in January-June 2010 the national budget had a deficit of UAH 26.525 billion, including UAH 25.299 billion for the general fund, while in H1, 2009 the budget deficit totaled UAH 10.604 billion, including UAH 14.072 billion for the general fund.
