The Ukrainian Transport and Communications Ministry expects to launch the third stage of its online railway ticket sales system by the end of this year, Deputy Transport Minister Volodymyr Korniyenko has said.

"I think that we’ll begin to provide a full service for the sale of electronic tickets by the end of this year, but this was previously planned for September," he said during a government hot line on Friday, August 27.

As reported, Ukrzaliznytsia launched the first stage of railway ticket sales through the Internet on December 22, 2008, which envisaged the possibility of booking tickets for trains with the subsequent registration of travel documents at cash desks.

The second stage started on March 30, 2009. At this stage, passengers are able to pay the full ticket fare over the Internet.
