National JSC Naftogaz Ukrainy estimates the total hydrocarbon deposits at three fields opened as part of a project of the development of the Alam El Shawish ลเ st section in Egypt at 10 million tonnes, the company's press service has reported.

The press service said that currently the company is estimating deposits at another two fields opened in Egypt.

During the term of the project's realization, Naftogaz has drilled 12 prospect wells and two exploration wells in the Western Desert in Egypt. In coordination with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, Naftogaz developed a system of oil collection and shipment for early production from the Gharadig field and oil reception at the Abo Senan base. Some 13,500 tonnes of oil has been produced at the field.

As reported, referring to Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Boiko, Naftogaz plans by 2011 to increase oil production at the concession field in Egypt from 300 barrels per day to 3,000 barrels per day (about 430 tonnes per day).
