Ukraine and China have signed a new program on cooperation in the sphere of space exploration and its use for peaceful purposes for 2011-2015.

The program, which was signed during a state visit by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to China on September 2-5, includes over 50 priority and promising joint projects, the National Space Agency of Ukraine told Interfax-Ukraine.

It refers, in particular, to the joint creation of Earth observing system, an ionospheric satellite for the creation of an earthquake forecasting system, and the creation and supply to China of a wide range of rocket and space equipment and devices.

Director General of the National Space Agency of Ukraine Yuriy Alekseyev and Head of the Chinese National Space Administration Chen Qiufa signed the program.
