The Ukrainian Association of Secondary Metals (UAVtormet) is anxious about the illegal creation of the Kharkiv regional association of companies engaged in operations with scrap metals, as well as forcing them to participate in the new organization, according to a letter of UAVtormet to the leadership of Kharkiv Regional State Administration.

The law firm of the Veprytsky brothers appealed to the association on behalf of businesses in the sphere of scrap metal on the issue of violating the law and illegal actions when creating the regional association of scrap metal suppliers in the region.

"The main requirement is the obligatory entry into the association and in the case of refusal – the application of all possible measures to deny the license and the compulsory payment of Hr 50 per tonne of scrap metal sold to the association," reads the letter, citing UAVtormet Head Valentyn Kulichenko.

According to Kulichenko, now Ukraine has single license conditions for performing operations with scrap metal, but some regional leaders are eliminating some of the companies and creating their own companies.
