The Verkhovna Rada has legislatively established time limits for the payment of wages.

Some 229 out of 421 members of parliament registered in the hall supported a law amending some laws of Ukraine on Thursday.

The law amends the Labor Code of Ukraine. Under the law, employers are to pay salaries to employees regularly on weekdays, within the time limits established under the labor contract or normative act of employers, which are agreed with an agency of the trade union organization, at least twice a month, with an interval not exceeding 16 calendar days and not later than seven days after the period for which payment is due.

According to the law, the amount of payment for the first half of month is determined under the labor contract or normative act of employers, which are agreed with an agency of the trade union organization, or other authorized labor agency, and it should not be less than the amount of payment for this period of work on the basis of the wage rate of employees.
