Managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Dominique Strauss-Kahn is planning to visit Kyiv next week to hold talks with the Ukrainian authorities, Director of the IMF's External Relations Department Caroline Atkinson said at a regular bi-weekly briefing on Friday.

She said that Strauss-Kahn would also participate in the seventh annual meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES), which will take place in Yalta on October 1-2.

The IMF managing director is expected to hold a press conference, and a press release is to be prepared at the conclusion of his visit, Atkinson said.

As reported, this year’s conference in Yalta will be held under the title "Ukraine and the World: Re-Thinking and Moving On."

In late July 2010, the IMF agreed to resume cooperation with Ukraine under a new Stand-By Arrangement worth SDR 10 billion ($15.35 billion at the current exchange rate). Kyiv has already received the first tranche of SDR 1.25 billion ($1.9 billion), and $1 billion of the tranche was directed to the government.
