AeroSvit (Kyiv) has signed an agreement with Japan Air Travel on performing charter flights on the Kyiv-Tokyo route, the air carrier's press service has reported.

A total of 11 flights will be performed from the middle of July until late September 2011.

"AeroSvit has been appointed on the Kyiv-Tokyo route. We are ready to view the issue of regular flights to Tokyo as soon as an intergovernmental agreement on air traffic between Ukraine and Japan is signed," a press release reads citing Anton Mattis, the AeroSvit first deputy director general on commercial work.

AeroSvit performed four charter flights on the Kyiv-Osaka-Tokyo-Kyiv route in 2007.

CJSC AeroSvit was established in 1994. Its fleet consists of 13 medium-range Boeing 737s and three long-haul Boeing 767s. In addition to that, it operates Airbus 320, Embraer 145, Embraer 195, and An-148 aircraft jointly with partner airlines.

According to AeroSvit, Dutch-based Gilward Investments B.V. owns about 38% of the stocks in the company, the State Property Fund has a 22.4% stake, and the Ukrainian companies GenAviaInvest, Investment Advisors Group and Bureau hold 24.99%, 9.8% and 4.8% of the airline’s stocks respectively.
