Ukraine has invited Russia to jointly participate in the implementation of a project on the creation of a transport corridor to Asia, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

"Our transport corridors don’t end only between Ukraine and Russia. Russia wants to go to Europe, we [Ukraine] also want you to go [to Europe] through Ukraine, and we want to go to Asia via Russia. So we are ready to listen to your proposals and join the work that is currently being conducted in Kazakhstan," he said at the first Ukrainian-Russian interregional forum in Gelendzhik (Krasnodar region, Russia) on Monday.

Yanukovych said that he had discussed this issue with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev during the latter’s recent visit to Ukraine.

"There is a lot of preparation [being done] for the creation of a transport corridor to China, and we are ready to join in its practical implementation. In any case, we are ready to plan and design this work," he said.
