The acceleration of privatization in Ukraine will contribute to the countries economic development, if an effective competitive environment is created, said Max Alier, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Resident Representative in Ukraine.

"The state monopoly should not become a private monopoly. Privatization is a good idea, but it is necessary to create appropriate conditions for the privatized companies," Alier said at an investment forum organized by the Investment Capital Ukraine (ICU) group of companies in Kyiv on Tuesday.
